About PNG Medical Blog

Welcome to the first PNG medical blog.

This blog was launched on April 18th 2024 to discuss and provide the medical and general community important information about health related topics affecting the nation and the world around it.

Medicine as we know it has evolved from a mixture of natural remedies and faith rituals to the modern day medical marvels that have contributed to advancements in medicine we benefit from today.

Unfortunately these advancements in medical care are not easily accessible to all. Many developing countries struggle to provide the very basic of healthcare services. The amount of resources a country allocates for healthcare varies as each country has its own political, economic, and social attributes that help determine how much it will spend. Papua New Guinea is one such country that struggles with providing healthcare services.

The practice of medicine and how the community perceives its health system is different in many countries. But the goal of every health worker remains the same. Delivering the best health services available to patients.

Purpose

We hope to outline the struggles and achievements of everyday health workers around the country and world, to give them a voice to be heard.

We hope to promote PNG medicine to the world and lift the standard of health care in the country.

Aim

We aim to become Papua New Guinea’s Medical and Health Information Centre and to use this platform to help improve medical services in PNG.
